Welcome to Dinnerstein Music Studio!
My name is Nick Dinnerstein—I’m a Brooklyn-based music teacher, offering piano, cello, and violin lessons for kids and adults, in person and online.
I’ve been teaching throughout NYC and New England for over 15 years, working with students of all ages and backgrounds.
My teaching emphasizes relaxed, natural technique, personal musical expression, and steady progress in a warm, supportive environment.
Whether you’re seeking piano lessons for your child, advanced cello lessons for a teen, or are returning to the violin as an adult, I’d be happy to offer individualized musical guidance.
Lessons for:
Kids (ages 4 and up)
Adults (beginners and returning)

Students
My students vary widely in age, level, background, and personality, which is one of the most rewarding aspects of teaching.
My students have included:
An energetic 7-year-old, learning piano for the first time.
A teenage cellist, preparing for a school orchestral audition.
An adult student, picking up violin as a relaxing hobby.
A young songwriter, learning to read music and compose at the piano.
An older classical music enthusiast, working toward playing cello in an ensemble.
Read what students and parents have shared about their lessons.
Lessons
Each lesson is tailored to the individual student—their personality, musical experience, goals, and approach to learning.
Lessons focus on:
The learning process – clear, step-by-step practice strategies that encourage independent learning.
Natural physical technique – relaxed playing to support musical expression and long-term comfort.
Musical expression – conveying emotions, character, and ideas through music.
Music theory – building fluency with music reading, analysis, harmony, and related concepts, introduced in an integrated, musical way.
Creativity – exercises in musical interpretation, composition, and improvisation.
In each lesson, I provide clear guidance on what to practice and how to approach practicing, so that the student knows exactly where to put their focus during the week and how to make steady, consistent progress.
Lessons balance quality repertoire with technical exercises, creative assignments, and music theory, adjusted to the needs and goals of each student.
