I enjoy working with piano students of all ages, from young children to adults. Lessons are tailored to each student’s musical experiences, goals, and learning style, with an emphasis on clear guidance, steady progress, and musical expression.
Because of its versatility, the piano is a great instrument to start with. In my lessons, I focus on simplifying technique so that students feel confident and comfortable with the instrument, whether they’re playing their first notes or developing more advanced skills.
As students progress, lessons gradually integrate music reading, rhythm, harmony, and listening skills.
Piano lessons also include creative work—such as music theory, composition, and improvisation—tailored to each student’s interests. Alongside traditional repertoire from a range of styles and genres, I encourage students to suggest any music they enjoy working on.
My piano students have included:
An energetic seven-year-old learning piano for the first time.
An adult songwriter learning to read music and compose at the piano.
A teenager excited to play her favorite pop songs.
The piano offers countless expressive possibilities and is a powerful tool for musical understanding and self-expression. For many students, it becomes a lasting and deeply fulfilling part of their lives.
